Popularly known as the Daytona, the 365 GTB/4 (coupe) and GTS/4 (convertible) are amongst the most highly coveted Ferrari models of all time. This piece, commissioned by the car’s owner, places the drop-top version of the Daytona in what is arguably its most appropriate setting; the beach. As a near photo-real painting, capturing this Ferrari’s lines and details as accurately as possible was paramount. But there still remained opportunities to deploy artistic license to highlight certain attributes of the car’s design. As examples, the windshield height was reduced ever so slightly, the car’s ride height lowered just so, and the diameter of its Borrani wheels was cheated just a smidge, to name a few uses of techniques used in the car design world when rendering cars to best affect.
