The 2019 Rolex 24 at Daytona was suspended twice due to heavy rain — the first time in the race’s history that saw two red flags. As it turned out, one lap before the final red flag flew, BMW driver Augusto Farfus passed for the class lead while all drivers in the race struggled for grip under the tricky wet conditions. It would turn out to be a fortuitously timed pass, as the race was eventually called due to incessant rain, leaving the #25 Rahal Letterman Lanigan BMW M8 GTLM as the winner in the highly contested GT Le Mans class — marking the BMW M8’s most significant victory to date.
