The design brief called for a full re-body of the client’s C7 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Drawing inspiration from GM’s 1959 Stingray Racer Concept, the focus was on maintaining various Corvette styling cues such as the bold fender shapes, a strong central spine with a piercing snout and central fuselage section, and a prominent side air extractor.
The plan called for mitigating costs to some extent by keeping elements exceedingly expensive to change – headlights, taillights, most of the glass – and focusing on giving the car a more exotic look by designing all new body panels.
While a healthy dose of additional power was also in the plan (as if the car needed it), the project stalled after the client – a prominent film director – lost interest due to a slow year of film work. Such a shame, as it would have been a kickass car for sure.
